Riverina Conservatorium of Music proudly presents Festival of Concert Bands.
The festival will provide performance opportunities for concert band musicians along with workshops/masterclasses to educate, stimulate and upskill band musicians and conductors. All concert bands are welcome, including school bands and community bands members from Grade 2 and above.

Friday 17th March
Flute Workshop with Eliza Shephard
Join RCM Alumni and renowned performer Eliza for a workshop on all things flute! Open to all ages.
4:00pm - 5:30pm Riverina Conservatorium of Music COST: $25 (fee seperate to Festival fee)
‘Dreamstate’
Join ABC Young Performer of the Year Eliza Shephard as she journeys through repertoire that explores the concept of ‘dreamstate’. Known for her creative and innovative performance style, Eliza will take you on a journey through repertoire that transcends the standard flute concert experience, delving into unknown soundscapes amidst works by Debussy and local Australian composers.

Saturday 18th March
Concert Band Workshops
Join the RCM staff and guest musicians for a day of ensemble development. With two band streams to choose from (details below) and a mix of full rehearsals and group tutorials, there will be the opportunity for all musicians to hone their playing skills.

The Wollundry Ensemble
Playing repertoire at a Concert Band Grade 2 and led by RCM’s Tamara Spencer, the Wollundry Ensemble is the perfect place for younger players and those looking to enjoy developing their ensemble playing skills in a relaxed environment.

The Murrumbidgee Band
If you’re looking for a challenge, the Murrumbidgee Band is for you! Conducted by Major Gregory Peterson of the Australian Army Band Kapooka and working on Grade 4 repertoire, this is the place to be if you’ve been craving a more demanding playing opportunity.
Ensemble Leadership with Major Gregory Peterson
Designed for Community Band MDs and aspiring conductors, this session aims to develop your ensemble leadership and rehearsal skills. Bring your batons!

The Massed Band
All players combine to rehearse several pieces in preparation for the Festival finale concert.

FREE Festival Finale Concert at the Victory Memorial Gardens
Bring a picnic and enjoy the sounds of a collection of concert bands as they present a varied program of repertoire. With performances from the RCM’s combined Student Concert Band and Riverina Concert Band, and a massed ensemble featuring all the attendees from Saturday’s workshops, it’s bound to be a musical feast!
