Percussion and drumming students/musicians are invited to refine their skills and techniques in upcoming workshops held on Sunday May 1st at the Riverina Conservatorium of Music.

These workshops will be presented by two of Australia's leading percussionists - David Lockeridge and Cameron Gregory.

Biographies -

David Lockeridge
David Lockeridge is a highly in demand freelance percussionist and educator who works in multiple areas of the music industry. This includes as a soloist, freelance, chamber musician, session musician for tv and film and as a guest artist with symphony orchestras both nationally and internationally.
Graduating with a Bachelor of Music with class one honours in 2010, David then moved onto researching and earning the degree of Masters of Philosophy in Percussion Research in 2014 at the University of Newcastle’s Conservatorium of Music. David keeps a busy schedule with recent commercial engagements including the 25th Anniversary of Jekyll and Hyde with Anthony Warlow, Rice Boy Sleeps World Tour with Jonsi and Alex (Game of Thrones, Sigur Ros, How to Train Your Dragon, We Bought a Zoo), the Sydney and Queensland seasons of Bring it on the Musical, Wallace and Gromit’s Musical Marvels at the Sydney Opera House, the opening ceremony of the Special Olympics on channel 9, Mark Vincent and Marina Prior, the Seoul Philharmonics recent visit to Sydney and the celebrations of the Sydney Harbour Bridges 90 th anniversary in 2022. David is also constantly touring with veteran percussion ensemble Btutta with recent tours to Asia and Australia wide for Musica Viva. David has given multiple premieres of new works for percussion and is currently touring his new solo concert “From Near and Far”. This concert features new virtuosic works written for David by leading Australian and overseas composers. You can hear David on many recordings with 2021 seeing the release of his new album “From Near and Far – a Percussion Journey”. David has worked with Casey Donovan, Anthony Warlow, Peter Cousens, Icehouse, Human Nature, John Farnham, Doug Parkinson, Felix Riebl, Jonsi, Alex Somers, Eddie Perfect, Simon Wright (ACDC) and many other Australian and international artists. Composers David has worked with include Ross Edwards, Gerard Brophy, John Psathas, Dr Diana Blom, Sally Whitwell, Alex Gomez at Otis Studios, Alex Chilvers and many more. With a passion for educating David teaches percussionist’s in the Bachelor of Music degree at the University of New South Wales. Since 2015 David has worked with the NSW Symphonic Wind Ensemble, NSW Symphony Orchestra and the School Spectacular Orchestra based at the Arts Unit, a specialist’s arm of the Department of Education that focuses on the arts. Every year David tours regional NSW giving master classes and educational events through music camps and regional Conservatoriums, a passion he has had since 2006.

Cameron Gregory:
For more than 30 years Cameron Gregory has performed, composed and arranged music professionally. His versatility on all things drums and percussion has seen him tour Australia and the world with many local and overseas artists in a wide range of styles and genres of music. From recording with Funk Guru Jackie Orzaczky to touring with Tommy Tycho, Marina Prior and Wendy Matthews Cameron has been an in demand musician for decades performing with many Australian musical heavyweights. Eclectic and diverse are the ways to describe Cameron and his many roles in the Australian music scene. From playing Broadway Shows like the Lion King and Beauty and the Beast to performing his own music to thousands of school children across the land with B’tutta Cameron has entertained and challenged his audiences on many levels. Too he has shared his knowledge and experience widely through the Arts community by way of private teaching and workshop facilitation. As an artist in residence and consultant for Musica Viva’s “in schools” program and the NSW Department of Education Cameron has built an immense knowledge and repertoire of musical workshops both for the young performer / composer to the professional educator. On many occasions Cameron has taken this knowledge to other countries to share his unique insights on performance and especially Australian music composition techniques with foreign students and educators.
